Vitamin D is essential for health but isn’t as easy as other nutrients to get in a balanced diet.

“Vitamin D is not in a lot of foods,”says Dr. Donald Hensrud, medical director of the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program. “So it’s challenging to get all that we need.”
